Hey everyone, I keep getting this error message "Connection failed(Connection lost)" when trying to connect to this FTP server. I am able to connect to some other commercial ftp sites like microsoft. but when I try to connect to this one this is what happens:

[R] Retry attempt Aborted
[R] Connecting to 83.XX.XXX.XXX -> IP=83.XX.XXX.XXX PORT=21
[R] Connected to 83.XX.XXX.XXX
[R] Connection failed (Connection lost)
[R] Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #1
[R] Connecting to 83.XX.XXX.XXX -> IP=83.XX.XXX.XXX PORT=21 (attempt # 1)
[R] Connected to 83.XX.XXX.XXX
[R] Connection failed (Connection lost)
[R] Delaying for 120 seconds before reconnect attempt #2

I contacted the creator of the site and he is positive that the site is up and running. Im not sure what to do and any help would be greatly appreciated. :o

Would the FTP server you're trying to connect to be running ioFTPD by any chance ?

make sure your firewall is configured to allow flashfxp to connect

could be IP blocking. I've seen this on glftpd too.

i know for sure that i cant connect to it using the web browseris that becuase site requires username/password or you couldn't connect at all?
if username/password problem, in browser just typeftp://username@address:port/path
(obviously replace each field with info relavant to your site)then you should get prompt for a password.

"Connection lost" indicates that the connection was made, but then closed, probably by the remote server.
Like LordM suggested, the owner of the FTP server needs to allow your IP on the server, otherwise, you won'T be able to connect.

I tried to ping it and it said "request timed out"

is that becuase site requires username/password or you couldn't connect at all?
if username/password problem, in browser just type

I tried ur suggestion on internet explorer and it said the page could not be found. But then i tried it on ARES web browser and it said "the connection with the server was reset".

"Connection lost" indicates that the connection was made, but then closed, probably by the remote server.
Like LordM suggested, the owner of the FTP server needs to allow your IP on the server, otherwise, you won'T be able to connect.

I will try to contact them.
