Is there a way to filter the directory listing

I would like to be able to exclude all files from a directory listing that do not match a particular pattern. I can't seem to find an option to do that. I can only find a way to highlight files that match a particular pattern, but not to exclude those that do not match this pattern from showing up in the list. Is there a way to do this?
