I wouldn't say this is misbehaviour. When you do synced browsing, you'll have to press ALT to do this. In *nix the parent directory is actually always called ".." and when you ALT double click on it, it should change directory on both sides since there are 2 ".." directories. To check the path would be an unnecessary extra CPU usage IMHO.
