Thanks for the observation. I'll take a quick look at the directory caching during preloading stuff which during startup is handled a little differently because the server isn't actually entirely configured at that point. It's possible I missed something being initialized and that's where the randomness is coming from.
I'll also add an option to completely disable it in the next build to see if that makes a difference as well.
