heres the error message without alternate uploading enabled:

[L] 227 Entering Passive Mode (xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx,xxx)
[R] PORT xx,xxx,xxx,xx,xxx,xxx
[R] 200 PORT command successful.
[R] STOR file.file
[R] 150 Opening ASCII mode data connection for file.file.
[L] RETR file.file
[R] 426 Connection closed: no connection available, remote machine has rejected connection.
[L] ABOR
[L] 425 Can't open data connection.
[L] 225 ABOR command successful.
[L] ABOR
[L] 225 ABOR command successful.
[R] ABOR
[R] QUIT
